How Tiny Steps Make A Huge Difference—11 Simple Daily Rituals For Glowing Skin, Happy Mind And Healthy Body

Sugar cravings. I used to have them all the time.

Early in the morning, late at night, even at work.

It was easy to satisfy my need for sugar with a few big, fat bars of chocolate that could easily silence the lack of self-respect and love I struggled with for years.

I constantly felt tired, agitated and unwilling to do anything. It was an endless battle with regular breakouts, cellulite and hormonal imbalance that brought frequent mood swings.

And yet, after so many years of trying hard to get rid of this nasty habit, I often struggled to accept myself, denying the fact that I was slowly destroying my body.

What was wrong with me?

Why was it so hard to love myself when I knew that loving and accepting myself was crucial for my happiness and well-being?

The truth is that I tried so many different methods. I’d stay determined for about a week or so and then one tiny slip would bring me back to square one. And this entire starting and quitting had an even bigger impact on my psyche—I became obsessed with failing myself repeatedly, desperate to learn what was wrong.

But the answer was right in front of me.

Overworked, tired and influenced by a toxic relationship I convinced myself was right for me, I felt trapped but so accustomed to the life I was living. On the surface it seemed perfect, but deep down it was eating me alive.

My life was a mess and sugar was the only thing that made it right.

Until the day I woke up. The day I decided to change my thoughts, listen my heart and accept myself for who I’ve always been.

Today I share with you 11 steps that brought me back my health, happiness and self-respect. These simple but powerful daily habits add up to big impact. Embrace them, enjoy them and let them be your guidance to a healthier and happier you.

1. Become a Coconut Lover 

The grass is always greener under a coconut tree. If I could have one in my garden, I would. Want to know the secret to glowing, smooth skin with no wrinkles?

Coconut! Yes, in any form—oil, flesh, water. Anytime of the day. It simply has magical powers.

2. Just Add Water

Have you ever woken up after a good night's sleep feeling tired and fatigued?

You were most probably dehydrated. Drink 2 glasses of tepid water when you wake up. The key here is not to drink water constantly but to have it at the correct time to maximize the effectiveness on your body. 

Do the same before each meal. Drinking two glasses of water before eating can significantly reduce your cravings and the amount of food you eat during the day. This simple habit helped me melt 2 inches off my waist in just 4 weeks.

3. Think Sunshine 

Whether you are an early bird or a night owl, your happiness depends on your daily habits. Waking up just 15 minutes earlier than your usual time can have a huge impact on your happiness level during the day.

Swing on a ray of light and take it all in. Greet the sun by waking up earlier than your usual time and spend these precious moments by yourself, in silence, watching the world wake up. Do this for a week and feel the difference.

4. Just Breathe

When life gets hectic and 24 hours simply seem too short to accomplish everything you have on your mind, take a moment to pause and just be. Take a deep breath. When you feel stressed and frustrated, take a step back and feel the moment you are in. Get as much fresh air as you can by going outside, taking a walk on the beach or running in the forest.

5. Show Yourself Some Love and Positivity

Loving yourself and taking the time to create small, daily self-care rituals that are just yours is highly important for your happiness. Don’t let anyone interrupt or take over your time.

Here are a few ideas of what you can do:

• Blow yourself a kiss in the mirror with a big smile on your face.

• Give yourself a massage—every evening while in the shower, rub some anti-cellulite oil onto your thighs. Just five minutes a day will show incredible results in a few months' time.

• Choose to be happy—say to yourself that you are enough and that your body is a safe, happy place.

6. Embrace your uniqueness

Your story is just yours. It is different, irreplaceable and worthy of attention. Get to know yourself and accept your extraordinary qualities.

By learning what makes you happy, what causes you pain, sensitivity and anxiety, you’ll know how to respond to the world around you in a peaceful and harmonious way.

The best cure for your mind, body and soul is knowing who you are and loving yourself unconditionally.

7. Hug 

Hugs are always the answer. You know, the long, tight ones that make everything better.

Research shows that hugging is extremely effective at healing loneliness, sickness, depression and stress. A proper deep hug, where the hearts are pressing together can have numerous health benefits including building trust and a sense of safety, strengthening the immune system, and boosting self-esteem. So next time you feel down and need a hug, reach out. Hug your child, friend, or yourself. Feel the nurturing touch.

Immerse yourself in the incredible energy you’re feeling.

8. Make Life Beautiful

As life gets busier each day, it is easy to forget to take time to relax and enjoy the beauty around you. Don't take special little moments for granted, make an effort to become aware and enjoy them. Schedule your downtime, drink from a fancy cup, wear your new shoes even if it rains, smell library books, watch the clouds, buy fresh flowers, enjoy crispy clean bedsheets, paint your nails pink.

Make everything around you beautiful.

9. Prepare Your Meals

From juicing and making smoothies to preparing the most delicious home-cooked meals, there are numerous benefits to home cooking. Knowing exactly what goes in your body, feeling happier and more satisfied, being prepared and eating on time to avoid skipping meals, and staying lean and healthy.

10. Give It a Stretch

Staying active daily is important but it can be easy to fall out of your exercise routine when you give priority to other things. Still, there is a simple way to give yourself a good start before hitting the gym or going out for a run.

Do a 2 minute stretching exercise the moment you get out of your bed.

Move your arms, stretch your legs and neck. That’s all it takes. 2 minutes of your time in the morning.

Doing the stretching every day for 2 minutes comes to 730 minutes a year, which is roughly 12 hours of stretching. Compare it to doing nothing at all and see the difference.

11. Jot It Down 

Paper always listens to what you have to say.

Take writing seriously and with a grateful heart.

Jotting down your thoughts helps you think better and learn things you might have missed or unconsciously ignored.

Keeping track of your progress and growth is an incredible reminder of how far you’ve come and what you have accomplished.

Find a perfect time of the day when to write. Make it brief and enjoyable. Every once in a while go back to your journal and read your entries. You’ll be amazed with your achievements. I also use it when I feel the cravings coming so I can write about how I feel and what I can do about it. It simply lets me become aware of my thoughts and feelings and realize that I am stronger than my thoughts.

Write what you are grateful for.

So, my beautiful soul, remember that you have the power to change how you feel and live your life. You are worthy of everything you desire. 

It may take some time to build a better, stronger version of yourself but it's all worth it. Enjoy every minute of it. Let it become a part of who you are. Live your happiness, be your health, love yourself. 

Always remind yourself that small daily steps bring huge results.
